III. Theme of the Contest
1. Theme: "Light"
Theme Interpretation:
In 6 BCE, the light of ancient Greek philosophy and reason like a bright meteor shooting across the dark sky directs the path for western civilization. During the Spring and Autumn period (6-221 BC) of ancient China when philosophies and schools were flourishing, a pinhole imaging experiment born from an idea flashing in the mind sets human onto the journey of optics studying the behavior and properties of light. Light leads to beautiful things like thales’ Greek miracle and Mozi’s teaching of impartial regard. It can measure distance, transmit messages, and is the small step that leads to a long journey to modern science and technology. With light in the heart, the path forward is clear to the mind. With light in the hands, the road ahead is visible to the eyes. This is a time of anxiety. This is a time of accumulation. This is a time for light to enlighten hope. This is a time for love to fill the heart.
The first quarter of the 20th century has witnessed multifaceted challenges facing humanity. But 2021 is our year of hope and renewal.
"Light" is the theme of this contest. We call on young people to show the world your vigor through your works. We look forward to the combination of philosophy and technology that has an imagination of a future. We look forward to the blend of aesthetics and science that calms the restlessness. We look forward to seeing your works. We have high hopes for your works of art and science that can pave the way for reflection in an era of anxiety, build trust in an era of doubt, restore the ecology of a vulnerable era, and reverse the trend of our times.
